The comprehensive early childhood education program is for ages birth through three. Helping women achieve the capacity to provide for themselves and their children is our focus. Continuing care is imperative and graduates are provided with support services on an ongoing basis and may always come back for assistance. Graduates are staying sober, working in jobs that support their families, earning their GEDs, living in their own homes, and giving back to their community as their lives come full circle. Family is inclusive of the supportive network of relatives and others whom the woman identifies as part of her family.

Treatment Phases
Chrysalis House is a safe and non-judgmental environment providing shelter and outreach services for women and children. These services include support, advocacy, referrals, resources, public education and community development. We recognize that oppression exists in a multitude of forms and are proactive in empowering women to have hope and make their own choices to live free from violence and abuse. Chrysalis House provides crisis, shelter, support, outreach, advocacy and transitional services for women and their children who have experienced or are at risk of experiencing violence and abuse. Our catchment area includes Kings, Annapolis and West Hants counties in Nova Scotia. We also provide support and information for family, friends and community members in relation to violence against women.

AFTERCARE/INDEPENDENT LIVING is phase four of treatment outside of the residential setting. Clinical Support Services assist clients in maintaining their recovery. However, length of stay in the first phase of the program, residential living, generally ranges from 4 to 6 months. As closet space may be limited, do not bring more than two pairs of shoes or handbags. Bring sheets and pillowcases (twin bed), comforter or blanket, towels and wash cloths, personal hygiene supplies, and a 30 day supply of any medications you have been prescribed. If you are bringing a child with you, bring any necessary clothing, supplies, and equipment for the baby. Our aftercare and outpatient program provides clients with support, guidance, and continued treatment following the completion of our residential treatment program. The Board of Directors of Chrysalis House are proud to announce the appointment of Kama McKinney as the Executive Director. Established in 1978, Chrysalis House is the oldest and largest licensed substance abuse treatment program in Kentucky devoted to supporting women and their families in recovery from alcohol and other drug abuse. Chrysalis House provides substance use and mental health treatment services for women 18 years of age and older, while allowing their children to live onsite during their mother's program of recovery. We are located in Crownsville, Maryland and serve women from across the state. Chrysalis House believes in collaboration and maintains over seventy contracts or agreements with community partners.
Chrysalis House delivers residential treatment in a three-phased level system that facilitates the development of key skills and the achievement of milestones leading to graduation from the residential programming. Persons served move from more structured to less restrictive settings as they complete phases of the program. The persons served move from higher levels of intensity to lower levels as they stabilize and symptoms are reduced. Through individualized case management, an evolving job-readiness program, and by providing access to an array of supportive services, Chrysalis helps our clients overcome their barriers to reconnecting to the workforce. Chrysalis House Healthy Start (CHHS) serves Maryland residents who are pregnant or with one child under the age of three, and who have a history of substance use disorder or mental health issues. We provide public education sessions and information about violence against women to individuals and organizations upon request.
Newborns and children under two years old may reside with their mothers full time. Older children are welcome to spend nights and weekends with their mothers when it does not interfere with the child’s schooling or the mother’s participation in programming. To support women and their families in recovery from alcohol and other drugs. We provide education and support to women facing an unplanned pregnancy as well as adoption planning if requested.
